Barbados has recorded at least 23 homicides from the beginning of January to the end of May.

The map in Image 1 illustrates the distribution of homicides across Barbados between January and May, with at least 26 cases recorded. St. Michael had the highest count, followed by Christ Church and St. James with 14, 5, and 4 homicides respectively.
Chart 1 shows the number of homicides in Barbados between the months of January and May. March recorded 10 homicides, making it the deadliest month of the year so far. April had 8 while January and May had 3 each respectively.
Chart 2 displays the distribution of homicides across the parishes of Barbados between January and May. St. Michael had the highest number of homicides with 14 recorded. This was followed by Christ Church, which recorded 5 homicides, and St. James which recorded 4 each respectively.
Chart 3 displays the methods used in homicides across Barbados between January and May. Shooting-related homicides dominate, accounting for 22 cases, making firearms the most prevalent weapon in violent crimes for the year. Blade/Edge-related weapons, such as knives or machetes, were the second most common with 3 cases. Other methods (fighting/beating/et cetera) accounted for 1 case.
Chart 4 displays the age group of homicide victims in Barbados from January to May. The age group of 25 to 34 stands out with the highest number of victims with 10 homicides so far.
Chart 5 reveals a significant gender disparity in homicide victims in Barbados January and May. 25 males lost their lives compared to 1 female.
Chart 6 displays the timing of homicides in Barbados January and April. 14 occurred during the workweek, compared to 12 on the weekend. Note: I define the workweek as Monday to Thursday.
Chart 7 displays homicides in Barbados between January and May by day of the week. The majority occurred on Sunday (11), followed by Monday (6). Tuesday and Friday had 3 each.
Chart 8 categorizes the number of homicides in Barbados between January and May broken down by specific time slots. Most homicides occurred during the ‘F’ time slot, i.e., 8 PM to 12 AM time slot (8 homicides).
